Tiger Shark Cove In Wellington, A Volunteer Community Action Built Park To Bring Us All Together.

Tiger Shark Cove was an amazing and triumphant success of showing how residents and businesses of our community here in Wellington, Florida could come together to create a legacy for our children and our children's children for years and years to come.

Not only that, this feat was accomplished without taxes. Volunteers collected sponsorships from home builders, developers, restaurants, banks and small businesses in our local area. $250,000 was raised through the efforts of people in our community donating money and collecting sponsorships. That money was used to buy the materials to build the park and then the people of the community of Wellington all took turns to contribute to the labor of building the park. Each person that helped build the park had their name engraved on these slats of wood around the park. You could also buy one of these brick pavers and have your name engraved in the brick and those funds went towards the making of Tiger Shark Cove Park.

Tiger Shark Cove is the pride of the residents of this community. It is located on Greenview Shores in the Greenview Shores Subdivision right now the street from Wellington High School, right next to the new Softball fields and right behind New Horizons Elementary School. It is very prominent as you drive down the road. The actual address of Tiger Shark Cove is 13800 Greenbriar Blvd.

You get a sense of pride as you drive by the park thinking, " Hey, I helped make that park." And the kids really love the fact that they are playing in a park that they built! What a great lesson to teach the children about helping, volunteering and seeing the results of a combined goal and vision.

My friend Cindy Adams was in charge of all the volunteer login times and coordinating all the events and actions that were necessary to put it all together. The elementary school children completely designed Tiger Shark Cove with an ocean's theme with a focus on marine life through play. There were over 3000 volunteers who started with a lot full of dirt and a bunch of lumber and turned it into what it is today.

This is my son's favorite local park. He just loves to climb on all the fort type apparatus. There are swings for the little ones, all kinds of different styles of monkey bars, cubby holes to climb in and out of, slides and beautiful marine themed local artwork. There are also misters for the hotter days. I enjoy watching my son play and see his big smile as he runs around this awesome playground. It is a great place to let your kids play and you can sit in the shade and read a book or just relax listening to the innocence of children's laughter. To take all these photos I rushed over to the park right before a thunderstorm when I knew no one would be there.
